One Journey Ends....Another Begins....
One Journey Ends.....Another Begins.....
Well, another school year is just around the corner, and with my internship over, I am now on my way back to Pensacola, Florida for my Senior year!!! Hurray!
But this journey back to Pensacola will not be a quick one....yes, Praise to the Lord I will be having a little vacation touring more cities and visiting family! No.....sadly I will not be stopping by Houston before school, but it's OK since I hear the weather has been kind of hot there anyways! :) (Not to say, I do miss my family and wish I could have seen them - which will happen at the perfect time.)
Currently, I am visiting my Aunt Julie Telang in Detroit. We have had an amazing time touring the city of Detroit, where my Grandma Loo and Dad both grew up and lived for several years. I also had the privilege of going back up North to my Uncle Dinesh's cottage for two days. I went kayaking and also dirt biking!!!! What a blast that was! For the record, I am not a motorcycle lover, but dirt biking was awesome! Maybe I should give motorcycles a chance.....we'll see.
Just yesterday we went into Canada! Yes, it was my first time in Canada. It an amazing feeling to finally get to say that I have been to Canada.....never really thought I would get the chance since I am from Houston, Texas. But God does provide opportunities! Thank you Lord!
A highlight of my journey will definitely be my visit to Chicago, where I will be visiting more family as well as my sister Hannah Loo! Hannah works at the IBLP Headquarters in Chicago, so I will get to visit her work and ministry there in Chicago. I am greatly looking forward to spending some time with my sister and extended family in Chicago, as well as tour this famous US city. Please pray for traveling safety!
Finally, before arriving back to Pensacola, my friend Slava Kretsu and I will be driving down to Nashville, Tennesee, to visit and see some Ukrainian and Russian friends and their families.
Lord willing, I should arrive back at PCC on September 1st. Praise God for His marvelous provision and blessings! Thank you for your prayers and support!

Goodbye Summer Internship!
Is it really August 24th already??? Wow! How fast time has gone by! Truly it seems like just yesterday that I arrived to Michigan for my summer internship, and now it is passed and a memory of the past. However, the experiences and lessons I had and learned this summer will have lasting influence on my future ministries and opportunities.
The Parent's program on August 7th was an outstanding success! We were so blessed by the great attendance of most of our Day camp/Daycare parents, families, and friends. The program itself featured numerous presentations by each class and age group of children. We had songs, scripture memory recitation, skits, awards, and special speaking. I was very proud of my students and their amazing presentation! They had worked so hard all summer and it sure paid off. Our stage decoration (the castle) turned out fantastic and really added to the success of the night. The children's art work, crafts, and class projects were creatively displayed for the guests and families to observe and admire. The reception/dinner that followed the program was excellent as well. The table decorations were homemade sand castles that Mrs. Brown made. It was so exciting to see the families eating and talking with one another! Overall, I praise the Lord for making this special evening a great success. I was very tired after it was all done, but what a blessing it was to be a part of this great ministry!
The two weeks that followed the Parent's program went by really fast. Besides continuing with our regular daily schedule, I was busy organizing and cleaning out the stage and classroom I used this summer. It was bitter sweet to have to clean up my classroom - as I spent numerous hours in it making wonderful memories with my students. When it was all cleaned out, I took a moment to look into it one last time and what a feeling of accomplishment I felt as I closed the door one final time. The castle I built is now being stored up in the storage closet for a possible future use - a project I was very proud of and will never forget doing!
Goodbyes are never easy for me, but especially in places that I become a part of. This summer, I really became a part of this Day camp ministry. It was just as much my ministry as it is a First Baptist Church of Laingsburg ministry. Thus, as I prepared to go, I had to learn to think positively and cherish the memories versus the fact of leaving.
In addition, the church members themselves were so kind towards me on my last Sunday and Wednesday night services. I really enjoyed being the church pianist for the summer. Also, I was blessed to play my flute and sing for various specials this summer. They gave me a very generous love offering and I am very grateful. May God continue to bless First Baptist Church of Laingsburg!
My last day of teaching was Friday, August 19th. It was hard to say goodbye to all my students, but we enjoyed our last days together to the fullest! I want to thank Pastor Brown, Pastor Yoder, and Mrs. Brown for allowing me to have this amazing opportunity this summer. They were wonderful people to work for. Also, to all my fellow teachers, especially Mrs. Simms, Miss Jenny, Miss Rachel, and Mrs. Marilyn, thank you so much for your support and encouragement all summer! And finally, to my wonderful hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Hicks, I cannot express my gratitude towards your fabulous hospitality. Thank you to all of you.
I already miss my time in Laingsburg even though a few days have passed. God truly blessed me with the best internship opportunity I could have had this summer! Thank you Lord for your powerful and marvelous work in my life! To all my Laingsburg friends and siblings in Christ, Thank you for a wonderful summer! God bless you all!

Internship Update....
Internship Update....
Well, it's July 31st! So hard to believe that tomorrow begins August. Time has definitely gone fast this summer, but praise God for all the work He has done this summer so far!
The month of July for me was full of numerous opportunities. I continue to work with the Day Camp program for kids Monday to Friday. It has been such a blessing to see the children progress in their walks with the Lord and their diligence in learning their verses and songs. We have had a blast this month between various fun activities including going for ice cream on Fridays, playing on the water slide on Wednesdays, riding our bikes to the park on Thursdays, and preparing for our Parents' Program. That's right! Our Parents' Night Program is a week from today! August 7th at 6pm. The children have been working very hard to learn all their verses (Ephesians 6:10-17) and learn the six songs we will sing that night. They are very ready to perform for their parents and we are all looking forward to this special night.
Speaking of the upcoming Parents' Program, I have been very busy building a stage set for that night. Our theme this summer has been 'Warriors for Christ' with castles and armor. Thus, I have built a castle that runs the whole length of the church stage. It has been a lot of trial and error, but to the glory of God, it is all done! I had some of my co-worker teachers help me, as well as some of the guys from the church youth group. Between ladies buying plastic children's armor at garage sells and a young man collecting cardboard boxes for me from his work, the building of our stage has been a team effort! I can't wait to set it all up this coming Friday for our special night. We will also be having a short skit/drama about "A Day at Day Camp".
This month I also did other ministries at the church. I am the church pianist and have sang two specials - one a solo and one a duet with Mrs. Hicks. I also played a flute special the other day and have done some piano specials during offertory. I led the youth group meetings twice this month, as well as taught the teens' Sunday school class. I also taught in the Good News Club for Kids this past Wednesday night. We have also been going door to door passing out fliers for the upcoming Vacation Bible School program this week. Yes, indeed. This is going to be a busy week for me as I finish up the final preparations for our Day Camp Parents' Night Program, as well as help run the VBS and Teen Explosion (revival meetings along with fun activities) church events. I am in charge of the games for both the VBS and the Teen Explosion along with the assistant Pastor Yoder. It will definitely be long days this week, but Lord willing we will see souls won for Christ through these ministries.
Well, that gives a short update of my days here in Michigan. God has been so good to me this summer and truly blessed me with a wonderful opportunity to serve at the First Baptist Church of Laingsburg. The church has been so kind towards me and I have enjoyed getting to know the families better. I have about three weeks left, and I'm sure they will fly by very quickly. May all that is done be for the glory and praise of our Lord Jesus Christ!

4th of July with the Telangs!
4th of July with the Telangs!
Well, in amidst my work with First Baptist Church and the Day Camp program, I had the wonderful opportunity to spend the 4th of July weekend with my Telang family from Detroit (and Chicago). We all drove up North to Uncle Dinesh's and Aunt Teresa's beautiful cottage near Traverse City, Michigan. Their lake house is very spacious and hosted all the family wonderfully. Activities included eating amazing food, tanning, swimming, boat rides, tubing, and water-skiing. I even swam across the lake! (About one mile across) I also had a great time playing board and card games with my cousins. They all are very competitive, so I had some good competition. Most definitely a highlight was just getting to spend time talking with everyone one at time. Family reunions are great times to get to catch up and hear about God's work in the lives of your family. I was blessed by my Telang family's kindness and generosity towards me!
Another highlight of the weekend was going over to Uncle Ramesh's cottage on Torch Lake - Michigan's longest inland lake and second biggest. Here we got to go jet skiing!!! Yes, I got to drive a jet ski several times around the lake. It was awesome! This was my second time jet skiing (first was last fall 2010 in Pensacola for a friend's birthday celebration). We also got to go for a boat ride on Uncle Ramesh's pontoon. This was amazing! The whole family went for the ride - over 20 people! What a great blessing this was.
All in all, my visit with the Telangs was so wonderful and how blessed I was to get to have this opportunity. May God bless all Telangs with many blessings! Lord willing, I will get to see them again in August. Looking forward to that! :)

Well, it's hard to believe that another week has come and gone by so fast! It seems like just yesterday that we were in June, and now July is quickly passing by. However, I am pleased to see that a lot has been accomplished in these past couple of weeks here in Michigan!
Praise to the Lord, teaching at the First Baptist Church Day Camp has been successful so far! I am enjoying my time with the children learning about God through song, verses, Bible stories, missionary stories, and crafts. God has helped me develop creativity in my every day lessons and activities. I have had numerous experiences teaching children in the past years, but this experience is very unique in so many ways. Perhaps the greatest thing I am learning through this opportunity is the importance of organization and planning! I spend time in the evenings planning the next day's crafts, lessons, games, and activities. I cannot express how important these planning sessions turn out to be the next day! But good planning with no organization is not good. So, I have also been working on becoming an organized teacher! (Probably not one of my strongest areas in life! :)
Game time and sports are definitely favorites among my students. I have had so much fun playing with them and seeing them compete with one another. Sometimes after major sport games, I am so tired and they are ready for more! I guess that I could say that I am "feeling my age" - meaning that I am getting older? Maybe... :) According to the children, most of them think I am 30 years old....though I have told them I am barely 20! Nonetheless, I am blessed to have students who respect and trust me. Praise God for my opportunity to influence these children!
I am just about half way done with my internship, and we are about one month away from our Parent's Night Program. I am currently busy planning and organizing this special night. It will be on August 7th, 2011, and I can most definitely use all the prayers for this. I am building a set for the program and working on preparing the children for their presentation. They will be singing songs, quoting their Bible verses, doing a small skit, presenting their missionary project, and displaying their craft projects. In addition, we will have some special music, preaching, and a video slideshow. All of us staff members are praying that this would be an opportunity to reach out to the children's families and community, possibly seeing some come to Christ through this outreach. I am excited about this, but I do have my work cut out for me for the next couple of weeks as we prepare for this special night!
I wanted to thank all of you for your prayers and support this summer! I have been so encouraged by many of you through messages, e-mails, texts, and phone calls. How wonderful it is to know that I have many prayer warriors out there praying for me! Thank you very much. God bless you!

Yesterday, one of the Pensacola Christian College Teams came to the First Baptist Church to represent the college and praise the Lord in music, skits, and preaching. It was a great blessing! I knew just about all of them from school, and it was so awesome to get to fellowship with them. They spoke for the youth at the church and also ran the Wednesday evening service. In addition, we ate pizza, played games at the church including the Wii, and spend time sharing about our summer experiences. The three guys stayed at the Hicks' house with me, so we had a blast! It was nice to have college friends around! Overall, their stay was a blessing and I praise the Lord for their ministry. May the Lord bless them as they continue to travel this summer!

My Summer Home....
I have been so blessed to be able to live with Mr. and Mrs. Hicks, an amazing couple from the First Baptist Church in Laingsburg, Michigan. From day one of my stay, they have been very hospitable and have taken very good care of me! They live in a spacious piece of property right in the middle of the country or woods. Mrs. Hicks cooks delicious meals and has been so fun to talk to and sing/play the piano with. Mr. Hicks and I have enjoyed watching some basketball and hockey games together, as well as had some good talks. I am very blessed to have the whole basement to myself with a bedroom, living room, and desk area. I praise the Lord for the Hicks' generosity and hospitality towards me. It is a blessing to see how involved and dedicated they are to the Lord and their church family. I look forward to getting to know them better as live with them this summer!

Church Internship Summer 2011
Church Internship....Week One flies by!!!
It is hard to believe that a whole week has already gone by since I first got here to Michigan for my Church Internship. The Lord has been so good to me this week, and I praise Him for the strength and guidance He has given me this week. Here is a small synopsis of my week:
Last Saturday, I had a seven hour CPR certification class in order to get ready to teach on Monday. It went very well and it was a great refresher of all the First Aid knowledge one should know. I have to say that it brought back great memories of being in Boy Scouts a few years back. Oh, how I miss those scouting years!
Sunday was my first time attending the First Baptist Church in Laingsburg, Michigan. I was very blessed by the kind words of welcome and smiles I was given by the members. I was introduced as the 'church intern' and had the privilege of playing the piano for the offertory. There was also a church fellowship meal after the morning service. The food was great and I was able to meet more of the church members. Later that day, I got a complete tour of the school and had time to get my classroom ready for Day Camp on Monday.
Monday was the first day of Summer Day Camp! It was wonderful to get to meet the children for the first time that I will be working with all summer long. When we got to our classroom, they all introduced themselves and we played some 'get to know you' games. I had them all make name tags to help me out as I began to memorize their names. The day went very smoothly and I was very thankful to the Lord for helping me have a great start to the summer!
So, Monday to Friday went by very fast. As I looked back through the week, I am very pleased with the things we accomplished. The theme for the summer is "Warriors for Christ" from the passage in Ephesians 6:10-17. The children have already memorized Ephesians 6:10-11 this week! As for songs, this week we learned the "Balloon Song" (this song has to do with not being prideful, but humble) and will continue to learn several other songs throughout the summer. Our character quality for the week was humility. The children were able to color pages, make shields, and learn about swords. Also, we were able to begin our study of the Life of Christ beginning at His birth till his visit to Jerusalem at the age of 12. Every morning, we also have garden time when we take care of the school garden. The children water the plants and take the weeds out. We are growing a number of vegetables including tomatoes, peppers, green beans, and cabbage. In music time, we learned basic things such as rhythm, tone, melody, the music scale, and music pitches. They got to play songs together using hand bells and sing along as I played the flute and piano. In Spanish time, they all learned six colors and how to count from 1 to 10. This week was soccer week in our summer sports competitions , so we had several soccer competitions. It was so much fun to see them play soccer with huge over-sized balls! We also read the wonderful missionary story of "Tifam" that clearly shares the Gospel message. Each day we had a special activity as well: Monday - Scavenger Hunt, Tuesday - Olympic Day, Wednesday - Water Day, Thursday - Bike Day, and Friday - Ice Cream Day. From games to crafts, we were busy all week long!
The group of children that I am working with for the most part are children that are not familiar with the Gospel or the Bible. Thus, throughout the week, I was able to teach many Bible truths for the first time to them. Basic Bible things such as the details behind the birth of Christ were new things to some of these children. I was very touched by their eagerness to learn about the Bible and memory verses, and I made a huge effort to be complete and thorough in my lectures and Bible stories. I have a great opportunity to be a shining light to all these children, and possibly lead some of them to Christ this summer. I pray that I will stay close to the Lord and be a willing and useful vessel for Him.
Besides working at the Summer Day Camp, I also participated in some church activities that were a blessing as well. These included a church baseball game outing, Wednesday night Youth group meeting, and a high school graduation open house. I have been able to get to know some of the members better this week, and I look forward to getting to know more of them this summer.

It is hard to believe that a whole week has already gone by since I first got here to Michigan for my Church Internship. The Lord has been so good to me this week, and I praise Him for the strength and guidance He has given me this week. Here is a small synopsis of my week:
Last Saturday, I had a seven hour CPR certification class in order to get ready to teach on Monday. It went very well and it was a great refresher of all the First Aid knowledge one should know. I have to say that it brought back great memories of being in Boy Scouts a few years back. Oh, how I miss those scouting years!
Sunday was my first time attending the First Baptist Church in Laingsburg, Michigan. I was very blessed by the kind words of welcome and smiles I was given by the members. I was introduced as the 'church intern' and had the privilege of playing the piano for the offertory. There was also a church fellowship meal after the morning service. The food was great and I was able to meet more of the church members. Later that day, I got a complete tour of the school and had time to get my classroom ready for Day Camp on Monday.
Monday was the first day of Summer Day Camp! It was wonderful to get to meet the children for the first time that I will be working with all summer long. When we got to our classroom, they all introduced themselves and we played some 'get to know you' games. I had them all make name tags to help me out as I began to memorize their names. The day went very smoothly and I was very thankful to the Lord for helping me have a great start to the summer!
